And thus forever they were associated with in my mind this image as the most powerful or richest company in the world - well guess my shock when I learnt not only is Microsoft far poorer than Sony, Sony makes on annul revenue 5 times more than Microsoft! Nah, seriously for a moment.

They got their fingers in more pies than Microsoft, Sony do TVs and Stereos and a bunch of other stuff too that Microsoft don't. Wouldn't be a bad idea for MS to get involved there if they haven't already.

Sony does not just sell consoles though, they get revenue from laptops, TVs, stereo systems etc. Sony branches out into a lot more things than microsoft does eg. They also have a good name in these products so they are bound to sell a lot.

Sony sells much more than Playstations. They were smart enough to get into other areas of the electronics market. Unlike microsoft's products Sony's product cant be torrented off the interwebs and then used with no consequences unless you get caught.

Most of the Hi-fi's on the market are built either by Sony or using Sony components, most TV's are the same story. Alot of top of the line electronics equipment have Sony components, such as NuVista which make some of the most expensive HiFi equipment when in truth its reskinned Sony stuff.

Sony may make more money, i don't know, but i think Microsoft has the bigger influence, at least here in the west. Well yes i knew that because Sony does more than just consoles. They do Computers, Car Audio Systems, Televisions and other electronic devices while Microsoft just does Computers and gaming consoles and because of the more product offered it makes perfect sense that they have more financial success.
